As sellers on Amazon, we all have the same goal; sales and profit. The key to more sales on the marketplace, however, is visibility. Now that we understand how the ranking algorithm works, it is time we learn how to give it what it wants so that we can gain that visibility. The algorithm wants sales, or otherwise some “proof” that your product is both relevant and popular. The best way to get the algorithm to determine that is the case for your product is to give it sales history, sales velocity and great conversion rates.

Amazon’s ranking algorithm places listings in a rank order based on sales and conversion averages. That means, the products with the best conversion rates and highest sales velocity and history are deemed the most relevant and popular, thereby gaining higher rank.
